Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks officials will lead a special “Hunting Heritage” event tonight at Sportsman & Ski Haus in Kalispell.
Wildlife biologist John Vore and Jim Williams, regional wildlife manager will be on hand from 6 to 8 p.m. to answer questions about the region’s wildlife populations and the upcoming hunting season that starts on Sunday.
The will distribute copies of the department’s annual hunting newsletter, “Inside Tracks.”
Also at the gathering, retired wildlife professionals Harold Picton and Terry Lonner will sign copies of their new book, “Montana’s Wildlife Legacy – Decimation to Restoration” that will be for sale.
It is the most complete “Written Reference” of Montana’s Wildlife Legacy. The book documents how exploitation and technology brought the legendary wildlife resources of Montana to the brink of extermination by the end of the 19th Century. The book celebrates Montana citizens and their involvement in Montana’s wildlife restoration efforts.
